*sigh* time to take it to the dealer... I wish I had a garage and Ford specific diagnostic software :P I always get antsy when my car is in the hands of mechanics I don’t know personally.
based on what I know of the code (P007B) the diagnosis will take a day at least :/

the worst is when you have an intermittent engine light that only comes on when it feels like it.

there is a permanent solution
1. buy a Mitsubishi
2. thrash said Mitsubishi
in 12 years of Mitsubishi ownership my Lancer 2004 2.0l has never had a CEL light up. just an SRS on constantly for the last 2 years.

Unfortunately Mitsubishi is pretty much dead in the US, the products they do still offer are mostly 10 year old stuff

It’s likely just a faulty CAC sensor. Shouldn’t be a big deal for them to confirm and replace. Seems with the growing number of sensors on newer cars this type of thing is becoming a common warranty repair.

Probably. I read the diagnostic tree for the code though, and it says “cold soak the vehicle for at least 6 hours” before beginning the test regime... this means they’ll probably want to keep it overnight :P Unless they just throw a new sensor in, reset the code and send me on my way.... (which rankles the by-the-books part of my brain, but is probably not the “wrong” thing to do)
